| bon vivant (bôn vê vän'). French. A person devoted to refined sensuous enjoyment, especially fine food and drink. [syn: epicure, gourmet]
What you will find here: Bon Vivant Wines offers an eclectic selection of domestic and international wines, craft beers, cheeses, and whole-bean Goshen Coffee. Our beer selection includes offerings from some of the best American Breweries, such as Bear Republic, Founders, Victory, Allagash, Jolly Pumpkin, and Three Floyd's. We also stock premiere beers from Belgium, Germany and the UK. Our wine selection does not focus on one particular region, but does consist heavily of wines in a style and price range ideal for everyday drinking. I look for wines with purity and balance, with the elements of fruit, acidity, structure in harmony. Wines that are great with food and a pleasure to drink alone as well. A note on wine reviews and scores: I have great respect for the world's top wine writers and critics and often resource the leading wine publications and newsletters. With that said, I personally taste and select every wine I stock-Parker and Spectator points do not determine the selection at Bon Vivant Wines. The 100-point scale is useless without the context of the review and the particular critic's preferences to give a more tangible sense of a wine's style and the likelihood that you will enjoy drinking it. More over, if you're fond of Beaujolais, Muscadet, rose, Prosecco, regional and village level wines etc you probably will not be drinking many 90+ bottles. To miss out on the charms of these wines because they often are scored in the 80-89 point range would be a shame. Make sure to check back often for information on upcoming wine and beer tastings (we typically have bottles open for informal tasting Fridays and Saturdays as well). |
